The VCAA, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and Monash
University, has developed a new VCE Higher Education Scored Study
(HESS), provisionally titled Algorithmics.

This Units 3 and 4 study, pitched at a demanding cognitive level,
focuses on a new approach to solving real-world problems using
algorithmic techniques.

Algorithmics will be a fully scored VCE subject.

It is designed for students with a strong mathematics and science
background, and can be taken concurrently with VCE Information
Technology: Software Development. For more details see the document,
Proposed VCE Algorithmics (linked from URL below)

VCE Algorithmics (HESS) will be implemented in 2015, pending VCAA
Board and VRQA approval.

Melbourne and Monash universities will provide innovative, online
learning materials, such as week-by-week lecture recordings, other
short instructional videos, readings and problem sets, which teachers
can use in the classroom or students can use at their own pace.
