[CS4HS] Proposal for a 5/6 study

Hi all
I'd like to see app development that's specific to their context. I'd also like to see students connecting with external coding communities on discussions and perhaps even on open source projects. And what do you think about online examinations that are built to examine more organic higher order thinking processes like computational or creative thinking and problem solving? If a paper based exam is a must, then that could be a part of the examination. The VET Interactive Digital Media course involves online examinations.
I'm going to have to ask a stupid question here - is a precedent to a Unit 5/6 study? Nathaniel mentioned a 5/6 physics? I may be alone here but I suspect that most teachers would not have heard of it.
So I guess I'm asking if units 5/6 would make it seem so elite that it won't become mainstream? For example, most students shy away from Specialist Math or English Literature because of the perception that those are 'elite versions' of traditional math and English. However, they are still units 3/4.
Do we have teachers capable of delivering 5/6 Computer Science?

> A 5/6 sequence is one that can be offered both at school and at university. It has a rigour that is equivalent to first year university. This justifies why students who do the subject during their VCE can get credit towards a degree at the universities offering the subject. The subject must be distinct from what is offered within the VCE and from other first year university subjects.
