[Busmanagers] Chocolate fundraiser

Hello everyone,

Just want to alert you to a questionable fundraising fellow going round
to schools.  He first approached us last year wanting to put a box of
chocolates in the staff room as a fundraiser for the Salvo's.  We agreed
thinking it was a one off situation, but he returned 2 weeks later to
collect the takings and top up the chocolate box.  He didn't make it
clear at the start that this was an ongoing fundraiser.  He was unable
to provide any ID at the time and was vague on how much of the money
went to the Salvo's.  On his 2nd visit I told him we didn't want to
participate anymore and he argued with me.  I sent him on his way.  

 

Lo and behold, he turned up again last week, applying pressure to have
his chocolates put in the staff room.  I refused saying we had enough
fundraisers going and didn't want anymore.  He again argued but finally
went on his way.  By coincidence, one of our staff members present when
this fellow came in, happens to be associated with the Salvo's and was
very sceptical about the legitimacy of this fundraiser.  She has made
some enquiries with the Salvo's and they don't know anything about it
and furthermore, say that if it was "legit" he would have ID on him and
be able to quote the church or Corps that he is representing.

 

Just letting you know, in case he shows up at your school.  If perchance
he does, try to get some contact details and forward it on to the
Salvo's - unfortunately we didn't think to do that at the time.   It
might all be legitimate but we are doubtful.
