Alison's advice is 100% correct.
The E3a subdivision is only available on translation from the old ETWR
classification and where the tenure of a leading teacher is not renewed.
By the way, a leading teacher cannot be employed on a fixed term basis.
Their employment MUST be ongoing, though their tenure as a leading
teacher is usually either 3 or 5 years.
On HRMS, the Jobcode for E3a is YEXRT because far too many schools were
incorrectly incrementing teachers from E3 to E3a. Our theory is that Y
in front of the Jobcode means it comes up further down the list so is
less likely to used incorrectly.

I have been told that if the Leading Teacher position is no longer
available the person in the position goes to a E-3a, however if the
person resigned from the Leading Teacher position they would go to top
of Expert Teacher.
We had this happen here, the teacher was a Leading Teacher but the
position is no longer there, so in Job Data 1 is shows YEXRT (Expert
Teacher 3a) and in Job Data 2 it is subdivision 1 - only one to choose
from.
Hope this helps

My understanding was that this was for the old ETWR's only, and is not a
salary subdivision for expert teachers. Perhaps Chris Towers can
clarify this for us all.

Is Subdivision E-3a ever used for teachers. The annual salary from 1
October 2006 is listed as $66,467. This doesn't come up in the Job Data
Panel 3 where the steps are listed and it is not on one of the lists of
current salaries.
One of our staff who was being paid as Leading Teacher has had change in
salary to the top of Expert Range. Is Expert 3 the correct one?
