In one sense this does not apply to Teacher Aides as the advice
specifically applies to approved teaching experience for commencement
salary only. However, for SSOs (including teacher aides) casual SSO
service is recognised for LSL purposes (CRT service is NOT recognised
for LSL purposes). Keeping appropriate records is important so
providing similar information for SSOs could be useful.
Also, the following item will be in the HRM Online that will be in the
DoE Mail to Schools this afternoon.
Commencement Salary - CRT Employment
Employment as a casual relief teacher on or after 1 January 2005 can be
taken into count in determining the commencement salary for a classroom
teacher.
To ensure that accurate information is maintained on casual relief
teacher employment undertaken on and from 1 January 2005, principals are
asked to provide a letter to casual relief teachers on school letterhead
detailing the extent of the casual relief teaching work undertaken in
each financial year. It is suggested that this letter be included with
the casual relief teacher's payment summary. The school should continue
to retain employment records for casual relief teachers, including
details of hours worked as a casual relief teacher.
Comprehensive information on determining commencement salary is
available on HRWeb at
