It is not strictly correct to say that any/all leave is at the discretion of the principal as some leave is essentially automatic.  Some examples of this are sick leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, family leave up to 7 years.

 

In the case of study, examination and graduation leave, approval is at the discretion of the principal.  Although study leave may not be granted by the principal because the course of study doesn’t meet our criteria, the same criteria do not apply to exam or graduation leave.

We have just given one of our Integration SSOs paid study and exam leave as her course is relevant to her employment duties.  I don’t know about yes to the exam leave without Principal approval – as any/all leave is at the Principal’s discretion.

Good morning everyone,

 

I currently have an SSO who is working as an Integration Aide while studying for her Teaching Degree, would she be entitled to study and examination leave; upon checking the web my understanding she would be for study leave if the Principal agrees and yes for the exam leave without Principal approval but I would like a clarification that I am correct.
