[Busmanagers] Fuel Purchase Card

I think it is illegal for these sort of credit providers to charge a
late fee.  I was told only financial institutions (i.e. banks, credit
unions) can do so.  We have a local Coles now (used to be Bi LO) and
they only allow 14 days to pay and charge late fees.  

 

Thus far I have refused to pay these late fees and will now set up a
school purchase card so staff can purchase goods from anywhere and have
a longer credit period to boot, without being charged penalities.  Makes
more sense to me.

 

So like Ingrid I reckon the purchases card is definitely the way to go.
I wouldn't muck around with any other system.

Hi Shelley,

 

We have got a fuel purchasing card from Motorpass and this is handled
through Retail Decisions Pty. Ltd. who also look after the Coles Credit
Cards.  The only thing to be careful about is that they charge you for
late payment of something like $26.00 a time so we make sure we phone
them before the end of each term and get them to fax through an Invoice
to make sure they are paid on time.

Hi Shelley,

We used to have a Mobil card until they phased that out and so we were
compelled to do some research into fuel cards.  Every one we looked at
had an annual fee (some ridiculously high) and other conditions attached
(eg. minimum monthly fuel purchase) so in the end we got a Dept of
Education School Purchasing card and we can use it for lots of other
things, not just fuel.  Has worked well for us.

We have recently purchased a bus for the school.  The Assistant
Principal has asked me to look into getting a card specifically for
fuel.  Does anyone know where I can get some information on Departmental
policies or know of someone whom I can call??
