As far as I am aware it is up to the individual schools to make their
policy regarding police checks for volunteers.

Ok this could open up a can worms here, does this mean the law has
changed and any parent helper who for instance comes into the classroom
to hear reading, now has to have a police check?  We have always
organised one for those parents attending Camps, but never excursions or
classroom help.

The majority of our parents have been great about providing the
information.  We pay the cost of the police check.  At the very least
they should sign a statutory declaration stating they have no criminal
history pending a full police check being performed.

Morning All

I am after some advice on how other schools have tackled our current
problem.  We have a lot of parents who are prepared to help in the
classrooms but are very reluctant to provide the paperwork and pay the
cost for Police Checks.  How have you enforced this with your parents
and has it worked or have the parents just stopped helping?

Some advise would be great.
