We have several students with epipens stored in the sick bay. But we have also purchased a spare in case of emergencies. When I did my first aid training they advised us that, in an emergency if the student didn't have an epipen you would use the first one to hand and worry about reimbursing and / or replacing the one you used later. If you were saving a life surely no one could object to this. Our spares were purchased with a prescription from the doctor who does our flu injections.

We don't have a spare epipen in first aid room, only those provided for
specific children.

The question has arisen at our school about whether or not we should
have an epipen/s in the sick bay as a matter of course. We have a
specific epipen for a certain child but should we have a spare to be
used for other children who have allergies. What do other schools do?
Thanks a lot

The students have their own and the parents have paid for part of a
spare which is carried by a teacher in the playground during yard duty.

It's a really good idea to buy a training epipen ($12.00 at the chemist
they have to order them in) so all staff and CRT can be familiar with
the procedure, the feel of the pen and the amount of pressure and time
that is needed to be applied to the student in the event of it being
used.
Particular attention to the correct end in which to apply the pen to the
student is very important.
Hope this helps
