[Busmanagers] newsletter emailed

Our newsletter is put on the website weekly and is password protected.
Parents contact the office for the password and we change the password
yearly. I would be more inclined to encourage parents to use the website
rather than the hassle of setting up a huge distribution list.

Hello everyone
Thank you for your ideas so far.
We have had the newsletter on our website for a couple of years. (Have
no idea if anyone reads it there). We produce the newsletter in
Publisher, put it on the curriculum server and the IT teacher puts the
relevant bits into Word and uploads it to the website. (relevant bits
meaning surnames etc are left out because anyone from anywhere can read
the website).
Our intention now is to save paper by having the newsletter emailed to
parents instead of a hard copy sent home. We will produce a PDF of the
newsletter exactly as it is when we photocopy it.
My thoughts are that the teachers would need to know which is the eldest
child, then which is the child who takes home the newsletter as opposed
to the child who has it emailed home.
Good idea to put the distribution list into BCC. I am hoping that when
actually emailing to the entire distribution list it doesn't slow things
down or hold up the system.

Hi Debbie,
Re emailing newsletters. Just a thought - if you set up a distribution
list, you need to put all the parent names in the "BC" (blind copy) part
of the email otherwise every parent can see every other parent's email
address and that may contravene privacy laws. I know because my
daughter's school was emailing Newsletters to us and I wasn't
comfortable with every other parent on the list being able to see my
personal email address - I figure it's my choice to decide who I give my
email address to. Posting the newsletter to your website is a way
better idea I reckon.
Regards, :-)
