Yes, Trudie you are correct but if they have one that is current (which the staff member feels they have) this should suffice.  Whenever I have rung Conducts and Ethics the operative word has always been ‘current’.  Maybe it’s a grey area, all transfers / current!!!  If in doubt always ask for a new one I guess.

A medical check is not required.  Medical checks are only required on first employment in an on-going position.

Good morning everyone,

 

I have an ongoing teacher transferring into our school into an ongoing position. Do they need to have a new police check done and also do they need to have a pre –employment medical assessment completed by a doctor? 

The particular staff member doesn’t think they need to have a new police check as theirs is less than 3 years old. I have asked for a copy and they are unwilling to provide it saying they will give me a stat dec. I’m pretty sure stat decs are only to be used until a police check is received. They don’t want to have a medical assessment either.
