Service as an Instructor does not count as service when determining the
commencement salary of a teacher.  If she only has two years service as
an Instructor then her currently salary shouldn't be anywhere near the
Graduate Teacher 1 salary.  The G1 salary is $46127 but it would take 4
years service as an Instructor to reach that level.

By the way, the correct jobcode is GTEA.

Hi Chris,

I tried to look on HRWeb but couldn't find exactly what I was looking
for. I shouldn't have completed your Survey so quickly this morning.

I don't know who it was I spoke to but it was a foreign sounding lady
who didn't actually give her name that I recall.

Anyway, what I now need to know is whether being an Instructor 1 would
be recognised as prior service.  We are hiring a lady who has been
working here as an Instructor 1 for the past 2 years and has now
graduated as a Teacher.  The graduate teacher salary is lower than the
Instructor so she is not very happy.  In this case could we put her on a
higher step?

I don't suppose you know who you spoke to.  If you do, email me

In answer to your question, have you looked at the prior service page on
HRWeb?  Service can be recognised for two different purposes, for
commencement salary and for sick/LSL.  TAFE service is not usually
recognised for salary purposes, by generally is for leave purposes.

Hi All,

Could somebody please let me know where I can find the Circular
regarding the above.  I rang HR and was told (rather abruptly) to look
at Circular 06/2005 but it seems to be on something completely different
and I am not game enough to ring them back.  I think they are all
preparing to go off on the Christmas party this afternoon and don't want
any calls!!!!!
