We were one of 18 schools across the state to participate in an Energy
Saving Initiative.  After an audit we were given funding assistance to carry
out works.

 

The key strategies are:

 

De-lamping of classrooms and offices.  Most of our rooms have multiple banks
of fluoros.  Half of the lamps come out and the others are replaced with new
daylight tubes.  ½ the cost - same light.

 

Time switches on light switches instead of fixed switching.  OR Motion
detection switching.  A teacher walks in and pushes a switch that is
programmed for the length of a session.  Light goes out when they leave.
Even better is the motion switching, where lights only come on when there is
someone in the room.

 

Time Switches on heaters and air conditioners.

 

The Energy Doctor was the company commissioned by DET to do the work.  There
are other companies that can do the same.

 

Light levels etc need to be checked before you delamp.

 

 

We are about to go ahead with the work after quotes come in.
