Hi Ro
We do the same as you. If we find live lice we call the parent, and
only if the parent can't come do we keep the child at school. However,
we keep the child separated from the class - usually somewhere near the
office area and doing class work for the remainder of the day. We send
a notice home to the rest of the grade notifying the parents that lice
has been discovered. The form the child takes home has a tear off bit
at the bottom stating that the child's hair has been treated. We don't
send them home if they only have eggs - however, we do notify the
parent.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Raelene

Subject: [Busmanagers] Head Lice
Good afternoon, hoping some of you can help me with this pesty problem.
How do you manage this? We usually send the child home there and then
if it has lice, and ask that it be treated before returning to school.
However, Health Services suggest we keep the child at school until the
end of the day. We also send a notice home to each family in that class
and ask the parents to check and treat if necessary. (If we get
multiple cases, we have a nurse come in and check heads.)
Thanks for your info.
