Hi Noleen,

 

We have just been through this process.   Any SSO can apply for a range
review or a reclassification of their position, at Warranwood the SSOs
who felt they were entitled, put in written applications to the
Principal validating their position against the descriptors in the new
agreement.  For example we have a Library Technician with a Diploma,
under the new agreement she was entitled too request a reclassification
of her position, which meant she could apply for reclassification from
SSO1-1 Step 5 too SSO2-3 Step 1 as long as her position met fully the
descriptors for SSO2-3 classification.  It is then up to the Principal's
discretion as to whether the criteria has been fully met and too award
the promotion; however there is a right of appeal through the Merit
Protection Board, if the promotion is not approved.
