Hi

I had asked for some clarification of the SSO Back Pay situation from
Lois Sullivan after the email the Cases 21 Finance schools received
yesterday. I have included her response below as I thought it may be
helpful.

regards

Chris

Hi Chris

Good to hear from you.

The advice given by Employee Relations is that the staff member had to
be employed on the day the Agreement was ratified.

Therefore, anyone who terminated on, or before, 13/04/2005 is not
eligible to receive back pay.

Relief staff working for a specific period would be on a contract or
fixed term even if they are being paid the casual rate.

If they were not employed 14/04/05 they would not be eligible.

Relief staff employed at the time the Agreement was ratified would be
entitled to the back pay.

Casual staff employed on an ad hoc basis would not be entitled to the
back pay.

If you disagree with this interpretation or have a different scenario,
please contact Ian Hollingworth Employee Relations or Chris Towers in HR
for advice.

Cheers

Lois

Hi Lois

Thank you for the instructions which are very much appreciated.

Does this mean we are not to back pay casual employees on local payroll
eg . casual admin relief staff, who are not working regular hours each
week.

I have employed casual admin staff for 2 days a week in 4th term & 1st
term, but I am no longer employing one of them for 2nd term. If I
understand this correctly the one that is still with us a couple of days
a week is entitled to back pay and the other one isn't?

regards

Chris
