[Busmanagers] Optus ... the ruling

Optus/Telstra

 

Currently Telstra are bidding for our business outside the tender
process which was

awarded to Optus for fixed telephony services by the Government.
Telstra did tender

for this and were deemed unsuccessful in this instance.  The contract is
until March 2007.

 

Multimedia Victoria have been advised of this issue by DE&T and are
waiting confirmation

if this offer can be accepted and/or in fairness to Optus to allow them
to have the right of reply 

(ie. Level playing field and hopefully an even better deal for all
schools).

 

An announcement is expected within the next couple of days and I suggest
we wait until then

I checked circular 040/2005 which told us we must change.

 

I have emailed Joy Schornikow for clarification as she was involved in
the details, and am currently waiting for a reply as to whether it is
compulsory.

My understanding was that we had no choice. Too late for me, we had to
change as part of Group 1.

Just got a call from optus.....we want to stay with telstra, they say it
is mandatory to change...should be a good argument at 1pm when they call
