Hi Rosemary,

I'm pretty sure the holidays are taken as maternity leave - here is an
extract from the Maternity Leave section of HRMS:

Resuming Duty 

To resume duty immediately following the required absence period, a SSO
must provide a medical certificate stating her fitness to return to
duty. A member of the teaching service whose period of paid maternity
leave expires immediately before or during a school holiday period is
entitled to receive normal pay for the remainder of that vacation period
provided she returns to duty immediately after the vacation. 

I'd say from the underlined section this indicates maternity leave is
taken over any holiday peroid unless she's resuming from that leave
during the holidays.

If a member of the teaching service has maternity leave which starts
before the Christmas Vacation and continues after, are the holidays
counted as maternity leave or do I need to put it on in two lots before
and after.  My mind has turned to mush.
