I'm totally confused so I rang the Call Centre!

I was advised that early to mid May the Department will be sending out
written advice through the global email system regarding what we should
be doing. I was told that at this stage every employee, except those in
a defined scheme (REVISED, NEW, SERBS) will be given the opportunity to
nominate where they want their super to go, which is what I understood
from Dean Pearce (Vic Super) when he spoke at our last BRAG network
meeting.

The person I spoke to also referred me to the website
www.superchoice.gov.au <http://www.superchoice.gov.au/> , but I suggest
we wait till we hear officially from DET.

Someone from Vic Super came out to see me and went through it all with
me and left some documentation. If you ring them on 1300 366 216, I'm
sure they will do the same for you.

I could tell you the info but if you don't see them, it is probably
better to get them to fax it and post brochures.

Excuse me, I could be wrong, but I thought all SSOs were on a Federal
Award as well and the Teaching staff. So would it matter if they were
casual or not?

Looking forward to hearing back

I went to a VicSuper briefing (I recommend it) and people on Federal
Awards CANNOT choose. All staff on the local payroll on a casual basis
(even CRTS), however must be given a choice.

Thanks Kerry, that was my understanding until I read this statement in
the literature sent:

Do you make superannuation contributions for your employee under:

. a state aware or state agreement, or

. an Australian workplace agree or certified agreement

If you answer yes, it then states

You do not need to offer choice of superannuation fund to this employee.

My understanding is that it is legislation that anyone can choose where
their superannuation is to go.

Hi Everyone,

With the introduction of the Choice of Superannuation Funds for local
payroll employees, am I correct in assuming this does not apply to us,
as they are paid under the SSO Workplace Agreement? Or have I totally
misinterpreted the information provided by the ATO.

Regards
