Interesting article in The Age (Business Day section) on Monday June 2,
page 4, about a research company called Hexima. The answer to the
question 'Why are flowers not incestuous?' has led to a discovery by a
group of plant scientists of genetically modified strains of cotton and
corn that the research team hopes will greatly reduce or remove the need
to spray with dangerous and expensive poisonous chemicals to beat back
insect attach. This links to VCE Ag and Hort Unit 3, Area of Study 2 New
and Emerging technology.
