Dear all,

 

I would like to bring your attention to the CRC for Australian Weed
Management's website: www.weeds.crc.org.au <http://www.weeds.crc.org.au/>  .
In particular you may find the following sections helpful:

 

1. Summaries of the different strategies to manage weeds. - click [Weed
Management] here you will find descriptions of Preventative management,
Integrated Weed management (IWM), and the various methods of weed control.
With this information students will be in a better position to understand
and evaluate treatments to control weeds. (Please note this information is
likely to be reviewed and updated by the end of 2006).

 

2. Links to information about particular weeds. - click [Weed Management],
clicking 'Individual Species' at the bottom of the drop down menu will allow
you to find links to information about the particular weed(s) you are
looking for by using the alphabetical list.

 

3. Case studies describing Integrated Weed Management of particular weeds,
on farm solutions to manage particular weeds and other information
describing particular weed management approaches. Click [Publications] and
scroll down to fact sheets and guidelines. 

 

4. Resources developed for schools. Click [For Schools]. Resources you will
find relevant for secondary schools include:

The 'Lord of the Weeds' competition (This competition will be described in
more detail in a following email).

            The Weed Wipeout interactive computer game Players of this game
a managing a farm which is ravaged with weeds. Decisions need to be made
regarding the most appropriate management option. Effectively the player
observes the results of these decisions. Players are challenged and
entertained with unexpected and humorous events which keep the game
interesting.
