Hi, The attached file ( on the left ) is a self-extracting archive that will create an MSDOS 6.22 bootable diskette. In the left column KA9Q executable, the KA9Q manual, a small screen editor a la VI and a few other files. The KA9Q software will convert almost any PC, even an XT, into a router. At minimum it will provide you with a three (3) ethernet port, two (2) serial port router that uses VLSM's and supports RIP II. Apart from not being a TELNET host it will do just about anything else eg TELNET client, FTP Client, FTP Host, PING client, PING Host. TRACEROUTE (called hop check) and act as a packet capture and trace.. It will run on any PC ie to my knowledge a PC XT with 512 KB RAM or better. The serial lines are asynchronous only ie use COM1 and/or COM2, and to use the ethernet ports you will need ethernet NIC's and associated PACKET DRIVERS. At the NTU (Northern Territory Uni ), soon to be the CDU (Charles Darwin Uni ), I have been using this software to convert a standard PC lab into a network lab albeit using 10base2 wiring. Thats not a limitation of the software merely a lack of funds. One of my colleagues has 're-engineered' KA9Q and has produced a Windows 2000 or better version. It has full windowing and support for PPP etc. Its debug capabilities make CISCO's look tame. I am not at liberty to give away 'WinOS' but if the author is agreeable I will distribute it as he intends it to be in the public domain.  Anyway, I hope this is of some assistance. Tery Anstey
