<font face="Calibri">Thanks James, but I have tried every way to get
the cdb file into excel - the Quick Vic (son of Mark Book) program was
removed from everyone's computer when First Class Reporter Pro was
installed *sigh*<br>
In fact I have spent so much time on this so that other people could
access their comment data bases that I probably could have actually
finished my own reports in the meantime (well maybe if they were in
Mark Book!!)<br>
I cannot see any way to import even csv files into First Class - there
are essentially no options anywhere (there is not even a help button in
the application!) - I believe that we are supposed to pay to get them
to come and give us PD on this) and the only way is to copy and paste
one comment at a time into a new database you create.<br>

As I said before it took me 20 minutes to input 5 colums of grades into
First Class - a task that would have taken 60 seconds with copy and
paste in Mark Book - and I have 5 classes to do!!<br>

Unfortunately the powers that be seem to be stuck on this
software...apparently we are moving to the "web based' version next
semester (more money for something not much better??)... oh wow then I
will be able to share my (non-existant) cdb's with the other staff's
(non-existant) cdb's - not that the PE or English databases will be
much use to me .... may be a good time to retire. ...<br>

Once again I will reiterate - if anyone is considering any software by
Human Edge - do your RESEARCH - as far as I am concerned the report
software is useless, and Day Map killed First Class for roll marking
(we now have no way to find a kid or other staff member, have to keep
our own separate rolls (yes I have to mark the roll twice in every
lesson!!) and if I want to know where a class is I have to go to the
staff room and look at the printed out timetable (like living in the
70's all over again!!)<br>

Is there anyone who actually uses (and maybe even administers??) Human
Edge/First Class Reporter Pro out there? At least Mark Book (and Quick
Vic) makes it easy to share cdb's - not just within a school but also
with other staff from other schools.<br>

you should be able to export the cdb as a csv
file and then perhaps import it to first class. I haven’t used first
class, but
have transferred markbook comment databases to other packages before
using csv

Our school has changed for the Quick Vic Reporting System (made by the
Mark
Book people) to First Class.<br>
Unfortunately the cdb files which most staff have created over the
years in
Quick Vic are incompatible with First Class, so all teachers in the
school must
begin from scratch and create their comment data banks again.<br>
<br>
Does anyone have any First Class Comment Banks they would be willing to
share,
OR any idea of how to convert the Mark Book Comment DataBase (cdb
files) into
something that will work with First Class??<br>
