<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">Hi Margaret.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">Yes, this is the year 11 Computing list.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">I think what strategy you choose for U1O1 will depend a lot on what your students are like.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">If they are independent and with strong skills, they would probably appreciate being able to choose their own topics.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">But since they are just starting VCE, some might be overwhelmed by the challenge of choosing one and locating data. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">(I can imagine even unit 3 Informatics kids being scared of choosing a topic for their hypothesis.)</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">If you give the same topic to everyone, there is greater chance of them "borrowing" work and resources from each other.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">Perhaps you could give them the option of choosing a topic or using a topic from a short list you provide? </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">See how many take each option and use that to decide what to do in 2017.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:small">2.2c worth...
