<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">Set up year 12 tasks in terms of software – and while they are doing the questions/Excel or whatever tasks – then lecture yr. 11s – it helps to have
a breakout area for the 12s.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">It can also work if you ensure the yr. 11s take the yr12 stream the following year. This means that they will benefit from material delivered to
the 12s. Many topics overlap – so shared lectures for these.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">And yes – you must focus on the yr. 12s.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">If you stagger tasks for yr. 11s and 12s it also helps – so yr. 11s are doing long task when theory is being done for 12s etc..<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">I have done this with moderate success – your expectations must be reasonable and explain to the 12s how they need to be more independent to succeed.
You can also give extra yr. 12 classes after school or at lunch if needed. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-AU" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D">It is challenging – but not completely impossible.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
