The point I was trying to make Dinh, is that the Year 11 curriculum
gives us the flexibility to make the course more relevant to our
students. I would think that every teachers goal would be to make
the curriculum engaging or fun for their students. Perhaps I used
the word fun too much?

The request for brainstorming was a reflection on the fact that the
example of Unit 1 Outcome 1 in the study design might not appeal to
students, it wasn't a criticism on what you are doing with your
students. What is engaging for your students might not be engaging
for my students.

I would think that at Year 11, you would
want to develop a SAC that would a) assess their understanding
of the key knowledge and skills and b) appeal to their
interests. After all, we want these kids to enroll in our Year
12 subjects come July.

Over the years I have used students co-curricular interests to
direct me as to what type of case study might be appropriate
for their interest. And of course it is important to have FUN
with the Year 11 curriculum. At Year 12 you don't have as much
flexibility compared with Year 11.

The example in the study design is for Enrollment trends at a
school. This might be interesting to some, but other case
studies might be more appealing to the kids. So you might need
to do a little thinking outside the box! Perhaps we could use
the list to brainstorm?
Hi Natalie. If a year 11 of mine went to the
trouble of reading the study design and
independently worked on a possible solution
before a SAC was even given, I reckon they'd deserve
