PHP. Not that far removed from HTML which we visit in U1O1 and probably
more friendly to the girls as you can do some nice design sort of

the same problem with my students. The solution we have used is to give
students a set of self paced exercises, attached, and they are given a period
of time to complete as many of them as possible. We do no formal assessment of
the tasks for grading but use the fact that they have gained skills and shown
improvement, even if it is only basic, for satisfying the programming
requirement.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
