staff along the way, to help keep up with the whole technology

person is so switched on; calm, approachable and highly qualfied to
guide the rest of us. He does a marvelous job. But I get what you're

Litsa,</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> I
do worry about some of these statements in the job descriptions. Eg.
</SPAN><BR><SPAN> "To identify new and emerging
computer based learning technologies capable of enhancing the quality of
the educational program and outcomes for all students in the College
".</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> Am I missing
something here ?</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> The
poor elearning coordinator has to identify what emerging technologies
will enhance the educational programs of ALL
students:</SPAN><BR><SPAN> 1. Integral
calculus in maths</SPAN><BR><SPAN> 2.
Appreciation of art </SPAN><BR><SPAN> 3.
Robotics programming</SPAN><BR><SPAN> 4.
English literacy</SPAN><BR><SPAN> 5.
Analysis of geographical features in landscapes and satellite
data</SPAN><BR><SPAN> 6. CAD/CAM in
technology</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> should
I go on ? </SPAN><BR><SPAN> Can such a person ever be
qualified to identify such emerging technologies in ALL educational
programs ?</SPAN><BR><SPAN> Frankly whoever writes
these job descriptions does not understand what an elearning coordinator
can and can't do. As long as the word embed is in the statement somehow
it makes it ok.</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> It is
the job of the learning area manager and level manager (VELS speak) to
identify the technology and then ask the elearning coordinator to assist
with its implementation, staff PD and monitoring of uptake. The
elearning coordinator has to understand the network, how software can be
deployed and how it can be used and applied. If he or she does not then
it is best to just let the network manager do this part of the
job.</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> Some
controversial statements or really a statement of how things can work
efficiently with true successful outcomes
?</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> Happy to discuss
and expand. </SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> Best
Wishes</SPAN><BR><SPAN></SPAN><BR><SPAN> Kevork
