Hi everyone,

Hope the year has started well for you!

With the new study design being posted yesterday, I will be beginning to work on the new edition of Software Development: Core Techniques and Principles for the new course.

I would like to ask some questions of you however (as part of the Analysis phase!). I don't mind if you want to reply here or off-list.

One of the things I have been careful about with the text, is representing the entire course (and not much else). In writing it, I map all of the KK points to the chapters and then write the content - ensuring that I don't step outside
the bounds of the Study Design (or at least - not too far). I also ensure that the PSM and the glossary points are all included and discussed at appropriate points. Some KK points are very succinct while others are quite open - and we rely on the community
/ VCAA to help define the boundaries. In the past, I have clarified points with VCAA so that I can represent these boundaries as best I can - both for teachers and for students.

However, is this an approach that you all like?

That is, would you prefer a text that is the study design (and nothing else)? Or would you prefer a text that contains extra material that allows students to expand their knowledge if they wish?

Please let me know your thoughts! Any other feedback would also be much appreciated!
