<p class="MsoNormal">I can’t point you toward any statistics better than Gary already has, but we have one (a mature graduate) within the past 5 years. He was employed purely as a Maths teacher, and as soon as I learned he had Computing as a method, I got him
involved.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">13 years ago, my school employed me, but I don’t count in your sample because Computing wasn’t one of my methods (Maths / Japanese).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In my time as a teacher, my school has never advertised a Computing position, because we’ve never had an allotment that needed to be filled externally. When sitting on interview panels, I do look at IT skills in the mix of the decision
making process. I’ve seen many applications from people with programming experience in their background, even though Computing isn’t one of their methods.<o:p></o:p></p>
