<div dir="ltr">Hi David
<div><br>
</div>
<div>The old SDLC* was a nightmare. Different lifecycle models were used in SD, IPM** and year 11. </div>
<div>I assume you remember these:</div>
<div><br>
<div>- ADDTDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Documentation, Implementation, Evaluation)</div>
<div>- ADDTIE</div>
<div>- ADDIE</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>In some models, some steps (e.g. documentation) were either subsumed in other steps or - like implementation - ignored completely. (I still have a preference for the ADDTDIE model because it singled out important stages that are now sidelined.)</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>It was very stressful walking between VCE IT classes and having to shift mental gears to get the SDLC steps right for each class. I complained about this confusing set of models at the time, and was relieved when the PSM with its ADDE steps arrived.</div>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>But I still miss poor old Implementation - the runt of the litter. I quite enjoyed pilot, phased, direct and parallel. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>But - according to VCAA's model - modern software and solutions are developed and then never documented or rolled out to end-users. Which is kind of odd. I would argue that both documentation and implementation are far more significant than evaluation.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Mark</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>For the benefit of young whippersnappers - </div>
<div>* SDLC = System Development Life Cycle. </div>
<div>** IPM (<i>Information Processing and Management</i>) was the grandfather of
<i>Informatics</i>, and father of ITA (<i>IT Applications</i>).</div>
