I would encourage teachers to get students to think about where there is a need for a software solution to be developed, based on who they know or have access to. Pick a starting point and work outwards. Could
there be a solution at school? Students may speak to teachers that are leaders in the school and are a faculty heads sharing numerous spreadsheets with several staff tracking results, etc. Different faculties do things with different data in different ways.
PE tends to track times. Maths tracks marks. Just remember a student is completing an individual need. A teacher cannot give a task out to a group of students. As the teacher you cannot be the client either. Could there be a solution near where the students
live? In town? Might be good to have a brainstorming session in class.

Students will also have family members and friends with parents who run small businesses who may have a need for a software solution. They need to understand where and how they will satisfy the criteria for the
SAT when choosing their need. Because they will produce context diagrams and DFDs, etc., they will need a few users that provide and receive data, have some processing and files.
