While the question asks about the efficiency of the nested IF, a more important question may be why it's more effective. <br>After all, using the series of IF statements would end up with the wrong answer. <br><br>Take a total of $1000 - all of the IF tests end up being true in turn, and the total would end up having the discount set to 2 instead of 15 !<br clear="all">
