<div class=Section1>
<p class=MsoNormal>Hi everyone,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I have set up a ‘quiz’ section at my web-site so
that students can type in their answers to the chapter questions and get the
answers. They MUST create a logon to do this – as they will get the
answers emailed to them. Their email address must therefore be valid –
and I won’t be using their email address for any other purpose (you can
assure them of this if they ask!)<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Once they create a logon, they can access the quizzes by
selecting ‘SD chapter questions’ from under the ‘Resource
Library’ main menu option. They can then select the chapter quiz
they wish to do, type in their answers and click ‘submit’.
Once they do this, the answers are displayed on the screen and they receive an
email with their responses and answers.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><img width=494 height=360 id="Picture_x0020_1"
src="cid:image001.png@01CBE7CB.371B3B60"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>There is a feature that will tell students how ‘accurate’
they have been. This feature is a bit experimental and is based on the
presence of keywords in their answer. Please stress to students that this
doesn’t mean that their answer is ‘wrong’ – as there
are so many different ways that an answer can be expressed – but is just
a bit of feedback that tells them (perhaps) how far they were from an ‘ideal’
answer (take it with a grain of salt).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I have a section at the bottom of the page where (in the
future) students can put their teachers email address to send a copy to them –
this is not quite working yet. However, if you want to check that your students
are completing questions – you can simply ask them to forward the email
that they receive to you (which is what I am doing so that I can mark off that
they have completed the questions).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I will be adding chapter quizzes as the year goes on –
at the moment, chapters 1 and 2 are up.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Please let me know what you think (it is a work in progress),
but hopefully it is usefully to you!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Cheers,<o:p></o:p></p>
