To me, A UCD seems the tool of choice of VCAA for demonstrating the “relationship between solutions, users and the network”, especially when you read the “Sample Approaches to SACs” in the Assessment Handbook. In the River’s Window Tinting example, it contains a task that says something like: construct a use case diagram to represent the way that the new system will work. This is not correct – as this is design as opposed to analysis. It should really have a task like: construct a use case diagram to represent the functioning of the current system.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>River’s Window Tinting also includes a task concerned with organisational goals and objectives (and possibly mentions system goals and objectives). Note that none of these terms are used in the SD study design and are not in the course. However, they do set the scene quite well – after-all, it is not easy to discuss the requirements of the software solution in the context of the organisation, if you do not know what the organisation stands for. There is also a similar learning activity to this listed in advice to teachers section prior to River’s Window Tinting.
