It would be nice if 'we' could settle on a standard style. I'm not sure that we have that luxury. In the end, we need to have some debate and do more reseach on the UML needed. If, heaven forbid, we get it wrong, it is not the fault of the exam panel; it is our fault. Same as anything found in the textbooks. If the textbook authors made an error, it is not their fault but ours. <BR>

Perhaps, however, there are other viewpoints. Let's hear them.<BR>
<BR>
Both Adrian and Kevork have chapters in their respective books on Use Case and UML and all. Mark has taken the brave step of putting forth his example. Perhaps others can share what they have done. Maybe even someone from the exam setting panel is able to comment at this early stage.<BR>

Right now, for me, I'm keeping my examples really simple and really plain until I learn more.<BR>

With all the flavours and styles of UCD, I'd like to see us settle on a standard style that we and the examiners will be happy with. A local style guide, sort of thing. That way we can more easily concentrate on the basic concepts and spend less time haggling about stylistic details.<BR>

In ITA we gravitated towards a simple, standard (activity on arrow), simple (no optimistic/pessimistic estimates) PERT chart that people were happy to use. We seem to be happy with our DFD rules and style. Having the same for these new UCDs would be a relief for many furrowed brows, I reckon.<BR>
