<p class=MsoNormal>One confusing point was the use of Gb for Giga<b>bytes</b> of
the hard drive and RAM (both in section B and C) and kbps for presumably kilo<b>bits</b>.
I am sure it should be a capital B for bytes and a small b for bits. This
confused some of my students (although I think they made the correct
decisions). Perhaps this ambiguity needs to be taken into account by the examiners
for section C question 4 and 5. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>From the sometimes unreliable (but quick to access) Wikipedia:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN>“The <b>gigabyte</b> is an <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SI_prefix" title="SI prefix">SI</a>-multiple
of the unit <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte" title=Byte>byte</a> for
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_data_storage"
title="Computer data storage">digital information storage</a>. The prefix <i><a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giga-" title=Giga->giga</a></i> means 10<sup>9</sup>,
therefore 1 <i>gigabyte</i> is 1000000000bytes. The unit symbol for the
gigabyte is <b>GB</b> or <b>Gbyte</b>, but not <i>Gb</i> (lower case <i>b</i>)
which is used for the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabit"
title=Gigabit>gigabit</a>.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
