<DIV><SPAN class=520385521-17092007><FONT face=Arial size=2>There is a question
where you fill in the names of different components in a LAN. The thing about
this that surprised me is that the scenario and solution refers to a
'wireless router'. Given that we try to get kids to understand the
role/function/capabilities/limitations etc of switches, routers, firewalls,
modems, I try to make a big deal with my kids that the little black boxes they
have at home integrate all these functions into one box, but that they need to
view them as separate components. And that when people refer to their router,
that this is an over simplification of what it does. So, while I heard someone
say the other day that they had recently installed a router at home where the
broadband connection was actually wireless, the wireless reference generally has
nothing to do with the router, but rather the switch.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
