I am pretty sure that Microsoft has part shares in Blackboard. Remember the big fight back in 2005 when both claimed that they had invented online learning?
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2001/apr01/04-24blackboardpr.mspx

Oracle has a huge background in Education but don't abuse it for gratuitous self-promotion as others have done. They are responsible for the Think.com, Thinkquest etc. There are some links from this website.
http://www.oraclefoundation.org/

I was impressed by a breakfast presentation that was given by them to ACCE 2008 study tour participants back in June this year. (A thousand thank you's to VITTA and my school for cosponsoring my attendance)

More in a later VITTA journal report.

Regards Roland

2008/11/18 victor rajewski <askvictor@gmail.com>

It's a selective tender between "Blackboard Australia Pty Ltd,

Desire2Learn Incorporated, Microsoft Australia, Oracle, and RM

Asia-Pacific". Good god I hope it isn't Microsoft (for obvious
reasons) or Blackboard (who have made the worst e-learning software
I've ever come across, and even tried to patent the concept of an
LMS). Oracle is respectable expect for having no noticeable background
in education. And I haven't heard of the other two.
