Sorry Nic, I just looked back and realised that I had missed your earlier post. I must give the Feedback module another look in as we probably don't really need the power of a full Questionaire module. Does Feedback provide an export of the data collected?

Stephen is on the right track. An assignment is quick to set up and run. You only need to extract the data from Moodle then clean up the HTML

At first I thought to try out the database module but now I think that the questionnaire module is the way to go. By limiting responses to a single text box or pull down menu, students wont be able to put in any HTML code. There is an option for online analysis or export to a csv file for direct import into Markbook. There is considerable scope for using this module to run other surveys such as POLT. Happy to share what we make (when I get around to doing this)..

As a school we have developed a series of learning behavior descriptions that students
will rate themselves on. Each description has a corresponding goal. Student will choose
1 goal per category depending on how they have rated themselves.

I have set up this using the Feedback module which seems to be easier to use than the
Questionnaire module.

The merits of the feedback module probably warrant a whole new thread however I like the
way the templates work, that student can review and modify reponses (if set up to allow
this)and most of all the "survey" can be exported as an XML file for sharing and backup.
Also the data is exported as an excel spreadsheet containing both summary data and all
responses.

It is my intention to upload the goals in to Markbook, as well as modify my survey so
that students can review their goals and I'll upload their comments also.

If anyone is interested in my XML file of our school's Personal Learning Goals survey
I'll make it available.

--

>
> Has anyone crafted a solution to managing the collection of Student Learning
> Goals yet?
>
> Last year we used Moodle journals to collect student goals and comments and
> then cut and pasted these into Markbook. As it was out first attempt we only
