<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>One of the concerns I have about these
normalisation discussions is that there appear to be a lot of issues conflated
into a single word 'normalisation', hence not leading to clear
answers.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>For example, when one says 'a clear and logical way
to explain normalisation' does one mean:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain what normalisation is</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain why normalisation is needed</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain how to recognise when a set of tables is
(is not) normalised</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain what the normal forms are</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain how to arrive at each normal
form</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>- explain why each normal form is defined the way
it is (what it is trying to prevent/achieve)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>etc</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
