Slightly off-topic, but I just noticed that Google has bought a potential alternative to FaceBook

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/media/google-buy-to-help-tackle-facebook/story-e6frg996-1225912147123
Fascinating .. has anybody else use Diaspora?

On a different slant, has anybody else set up a Facebook page for their school? I have an idea that it may be similar to what many here have done with Wikipedia. I am in non hurry, the school secretary can tip-toe across this line .. just looking for some pointers that can be passed on.
I guess social networking is the area of technology that the brave will
lead the rest of us through.
Unfortunately, I have been scarred many times by these systems and not
because of my self but people associated with me not having good
security, or sensibility.

I guess that's why my last post was so rushed and mistyped.

I did remember hearing about an open source version of facebook called
diaspora starting soon, which has much higher levels of security but as
yet I am still waiting to see how easy it is to configure. Also I did
not find the Privacy Policy for this new system. However I did find the
article now.
