I give them 2 periods (95 min) but rarely do they need it all.<br><br>I never let them use cheat sheets, notes or texts; they can't use them in the exam and U4O2 is prime exam practice.<br><br>I find the only time to let them have open book tests is when the books are pretty well useless anyway.<br>
<br>Open-book tests are not a good practice, I reckon. <br>The weaker kids spend most of their time desperately looking things up.<br>The better kids don't use the books because they know the material. <br><br>In short, if they <i>need</i> the books, they're not ready for the test.<br>
