Hi Monica. All amendments to the copyright act are referred to by "Copyright Act 1968" [similar applies to amendments of the Privacy Act].

They won't ask questions about the copyright amendment act, only 'the copyright act' because the glossary defines the legislation relevant to ITA.

(Three cheers for the glossary again. Who says we don't need it?)

So, in theory, the examiners COULD ask a question about a recent amendment because it would fit within 'The Copyright Act 1968'.

But would they ask a specific question about a recent amendment?

IMO, the examiners are very unlikely to be so specific or up-to-date with their copyright question(s). After all, many kids don't even know it's illegal to copy commercial DVDs or download album torrents, let alone little changes made to the law recently (e.g. timeshifting; converting purchased music to a new format to play it on a portable player etc.)

The ITA textbooks probably will have been written before the 2006 amendment (my book was) so they would not refer to recent amendments.

Having said that, I bet the exam asks specifically whether timeshifting is legal or not :-(

Cheers
I'm Monica, first time teaching IT Apps.
Sorry to ask this again Mark but just to be clear does that mean that the
Copyright Amendment Act *2006* is examinable. I can't find anything in the
glossary.

Kind regards
