Hi Graham

Can you clarify - when you said you "created a course on my Apple OSX notebook" are you creating it on a local Moodle install running on your Mac, or using your Mac to create it in your Moodle installation in your school?

That is - is the problem in copying and restoring from/to the school Moodle when using a Mac, or is it about two versions of Moodle, one on the Mac and one on the school network?

ken

Oh yeah - Moodle has several places in which upload size is limited, but generally that becomes evident when you try to upload the ZIP file, not when actually restoring. We did have one case like yours, where a course manager included copies of the course itself in its own Files area as backups - the restore had to recursively unzip zips inside zips etc and ran out of RAM
G'day all

I am seeking some help in using Moodle - in particular, the Backup/ Restore Function.

I have created a course on my Apple OSX notebook, made a backup, transferred the backup ZIP file to the school network and then asked to restore it into the school Moodle. All worked as expected except the Restore. The process started off correctly and then stopped midway. No files, etc are restored at all. Several attempts were made.

Conversely, a Backup/ Restore of a course from the School network onto my notebook works perfectly. A Backup/ Restore within the confines of the network works perfectly.

I do note that the size of the ZIP files on the OSX machine seems to be larger than the Windows ZIP file size.

I have checked the forums at Moodle.org but have not (as yet) located any one with a similar problem or solution to such.

Does anyone have a suggestion/ solution/ reference that could help me?

In order to keep traffic on the list on-topic and not overloaded, please reply to me personally -
