Hi, I have been agaitating and disgussted by the pay deal ; have done 3 web postings to platwa site and 5 emails to union and etc. Giving my final message to you that I sent to AEU. yes, I am VIEU member, supported you as well but what done. Tried your web address to read but as catholic teacher cannot get in. Give them heaps the case stinks. My last post
Hi AEU,

Have been monitoring your developments and web site. Waited patiently for latest post as per 14 May 08
Your pay deal runs over in excess of 3 years. This happened in your previous case. When previous deal expired members were cheated on time lags and this year in negotiations the members got diddled in time. Most members would like to see time period 2- 3years. Not this extended period. $1000 I gather is the pay off (rubbish) award after award we are diddled in time. Union too accommodating and too close to government.

Secondly how can you boast like last time that members will get
5.2% per year when you admit yourselves that year 2 and 3 offer 2.71%? You are double dealing and dishonest in that you are counting the annual pay adjustments of time serving teachers. Teachers are not getting up with community and past relativity to MP’s. Come on you have been diddled and of course we as members have been done. The 2.71% is less then what the government offered per year to all public servants of the crown. Also, this amount is not keeping up with inflation (what planet are we on – are you listening or just accommodating to the party). The spin is totally dishonest and discredits the membership and teaching profession. To think that testing went ahead when most Teachers would have voted it down, because it gave us some power, then you took it away ; or acted on our behalf. Your decision in this matter was wrong as it would appear that you put the government ahead of your members needs. To keep up with inflation and seek the redress with NSW.

Am
sorry to say but the deal stinks. Come on this nonsense of saying we are ahead of NSW is rubbish? They are finalising a new agreement involving 5.2% per year. This present agreement I have seen that a too cosy relationship exists between AEU Vic and Vic Labor. The normal members are being hood winked. I have noted discrepancies in past voting practices and voting from past agreement and are disappointed. ( I can support this by evidence at the last award Branch meeting where members vote against but your website did not reveal the negative vote) I am realistic and being a union and tradie, apart from a teacher I have seen the past 10 years as a sell off of teachers.

Your actions will reflect upon my representatives at the VIEU. A I grow older I become more astute to the underhanded practices of hood winking the worker; I am getting annoyed at the selling out of the worker. Have you lost your socialist principles? I am realistic, but disappointed. If you check
your email records I do correspond with your office, do drop copies to my union VIEU but your failure of response (likewise with my union) queries my attitude to why I should support working bodies. Myself and others are thinking this way and may are in a quandary as the value now of membership after the past 2 wage cases which have no matter how you spin are in my trade terms bloody balls up.

I believe this case, while rewarding some but very disjointed revealing very transparent deals struck with government will accelerate loss of membership numbers. I am afraid your dealings will force many like myself to resign in disgust and follow models of true socialist values of fair deals for the working class.

Cheers but disappointed and betrayed once more. I cannot believe the spin that your office is generating. Likewise in the past I await with patience your response.

In disgust with your concept of a fair deal

Brian Lennon
