As far as I know, and have ascertained over the years, Access will not allow a calculated field in a table. Hence it must be done via a form or a query. Must admit I haven’t had this confirmed or denied by an Access Guru as yet !
Cheers,
The common approach seems to be via a 'form'...that one works well in its varying flavours as suggested on the list. And yes, I did get the 'form' version working even before I put the qn on the list.
Unfortunately, what I cant get to work is (if you can picture this...)...
A column in a table is headed DOB
Another column in the same table is headed AGE
Data from the sample database sheet is entered which includes DOB field for all the records.
My so far unsuccessful attempts are to try to get the database to 'automatically calculate' the AGE, given the data in the DOB field via the table.
I guess that since I also tried, again unsuccessfully, this via a query, that is why most of the suggestions are query or form based.
