<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial color=#000000 size=2>Hi all,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>I wear both hats, being an IT Teacher as
well as a technician/engineer who worked at school for many years.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>the issue should never be teacher vs
technician, the IT Co-ordinator or IT Manager would be the point of contact, if
the processes are in place, the It co-ordinator/Manager would collect requests
from teachers before start of term or at the end of term for the next, regarding
software they wan to use than it is negotiated and either end up being a part of
a new image to be rolled to all or group of computers, while taking into
consideration legal requirements like licenses etc.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>A school Tech's contacts are mostly
students and then teachers, with many responsibilities, unless an agreed process
takes place, either things stay the same or your technician move on to somewhere
else, in either case it could be a loose-loose
situation.</FONT></DIV></DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr> </DIV>
<DIV dir=ltr>A co-ordinator, who happens to also be a teacher, is well situated
to advise other teachers and offer alternatives and can act like a safety buffer
that would make things lot easier.</DIV>

I do agree that it is a curriculum issue as to what software should be<BR>>
