examination room. I gave a friendly high-five to congratulate their success but
my heart sank. The examiner caught my frantic look and gestured me over to say
that the bulk had left only just before the 5 min deadline. (phew) I had made
all sorts of hollow threats and bribes for my students to stay to the end. Each
year I wonder if I could better reinforce my examination technique. Thank you
everybody, I have made good use of all the practice activities, websites and
resources everybody.

My heart lifted afterwards when a colleague and I looked over the paper
afterwards to try and guess the dog biscuit award that Mark might dish out. We
laughed off all our problems, wished our students the best then jointly filled
the round filing cabinet with practice examinations and notes that will never
be picked up.
