Short stories, the collection is not too long, themes of identity, being different, being torn between two cultures. Beautifully but fairly simply written. Vocab's not too hard. Lots of potential to talk about young adult relationships. The structure of the short stories is readily identifiable - it's easy to find details in the writing to demonstrate various points of view. Once the POe stories are unpacked for the students, they represent the kinds of stories which bear a similarity to the oral traditions of many of our students.
